DESCRIPTION: Tabletop Tube AM radio manufactured by Bendix Aviation in 1947 to 1948 time-frame excellent+ working condition. The design is a favorite among collector and decorators. "The toaster." So cute! Neat little handle built into the back. This particular radio has a few cracks and was repaired and repainted. The repairs are slightly visible from the exterior. There is a crack on the top right side and on the top left corner. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Glossy ivory repainted cabinet is in excellent condition. No other cracks, splits, warping, or chips. This radio is over 65 years old! Dial light lights up brightly. The original dark tan knobs are in excellent condition and are not painted. They are molded in tan plastic. The volume on/off knob is secure. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. The dial plastic is slightly cracked! All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! This radio is a good player. The circuit design seems to functions better than other electronic designs of the day. Seems to tolerate spec drift more than others. Tunes in loudly to stations with no humming or buzzing. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The cardboard backing is original and in very good condition. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The power cord and plug are in good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean, professional environment no pets.
