Sassy Pink 1957 RCA Victor Model 9-XL-1F Vacuum Tube Radio Dual Speaker Excellent Sound and Cigarette Lighter!
DESCRIPTION: Rare and very desirable from the mid-late fifties pink dual speaker radio with original built-in cigarette lighter. Why do you need a cigarette lighter in a radio? Because a lot of people smoked back then, and especially in bed! Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by RCA Victor in 1957 time frame in excellent working and very good physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded s\pink plastic. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. There are two repaired hairline cracks that begin on the back top edge but do not continue across the top. The top is reinforced from underneath to reduce possibility of further cracking. The tuning clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches and securely attached.
KNOBS: Matching original knobs are intact, securely attached. Tuning knob is in excellent condition with no pitting, rust or chips. Very functional tone control works. Volume works with smooth even attenuation across entire range. The tuning dial works fine. The tuning slider indicator works. No sticky spots no squeaks.
SOUND QUALITY: This radio is loud! One of the better ones for listening purposes. Dual speakers for better audio quality.
CIGARETTE LIGHTER: works
LOGO: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly. Replaced with modern bright LED so probably never needs replacing.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact and securely attached with read-able printing.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Water stained.
