DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by General Television in the 1947 time fame in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original marbleized Tenite cellulosic plastic molded in original green and white swirly color. Not repainted. Not touched up not over sprayed. It came this way from the factory. Exceedingly rare color and effect, material, and condition. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. There is fine age checking of the Tenite throughout. The factory original matching handle, grill, tuning window trim and knobs are in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips in original factory molded ivory color plastic also not repainted, not touched up and not over sprayed. All trim pieces are securely attached with original internal post clips not missing not glued. Original tuning gold metal foil backing is in excellent condition with no bends, warping, rust, oxidation, peeling or fading. Original ivory Saturn shape tuning pointer is in excellent condition with no cracks, no warping, securely attached. Original clear tuning window is in excellent condition with no cracks, no warping and securely attached.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logos
KNOBS: The original tuning knob is in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached. Tuning pointer rotates with ease, no slipping, no sticky or stuck spots. Original volume knob is in excellent condition and matches the tuning knob.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights works and lights brightly
CLOCK: No clock
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is missing.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Was owned by the late Les Richter, pro-NFL Hall of Famer and NASCAR executive.
