Sandman Blue 1964 Zenith Model L-516B AM Vacuum Tube Alarm Clock Radio Excellent Condition Sounds Terrific! Rare Color Combo!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Zenith in 1964 timeframe in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory shiny molded in light blue color plastic. Original factory molded color through and through. Not repainted, no touch up no over spray. No cracks, chips, or major scratches. No major scratches or missing pieces. Front clear cover piece with gold, white, and blue accents is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or major scratches. Clock and tuning aluminum back panel is in very good condition with some minor oxidation but no rust, dents or dings, or stains.
KNOBS: Original volume and tuning knobs are original, matching and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. White painted center caps are rare, original, and excellent condition. Two original matching clock function knobs are excellent condition.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front black clock face is clean, no rust pitting, warping or water staining.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer works. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both intermediate frequency transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free reception in the future. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Original power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Rare original color matching backing board is in excellent condition.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing labels. Back factory label is mostly intact and readable.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
