Burgundy Red 1956 Zenith Model A615F Vacuum Tube AM Radio Sounds Great! Rare and Unique Mid Century!
DESCRIPTION: Table top vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Zenith in 1956 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. Other-worldly cyclops tuning window feels like it's watching you!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. The station frequency selectivity and sensitivity is excellent.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded dark red burgundy brownish plastic cabinet. No major scratches or missing pieces. There is a repaired hairline crack on top that has been reinforced from the bottom to reduce further cracking in the future. Bottom has crack and large chip on one of the standing legs obscured purposefully by Retro Radio Farm sticker. The front gold aluminum decorative ellipsoid ring is in very good condition with no dents or dings some gold paint thinning but securely attached. The tuning back screen is in very good condition no paint flaking, rust fleabites, and securely attached and level.
KNOBS: Original volume and tuning knobs are matching and securely attached with no cracks. No missing chrome color metal center inserts. Tuning knob is original and works.
LOGO: No missing logos. Zenith raised painted lettering on tuning back is in excellent condition with very little rub off. The Zenith center crown logo is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: Tiny red power indicator light works. No tuning light illuminating the tuning cavity from within, not originally designed with one, but looks very nice when added for extra charge.
CLOCK: no clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure stronger reception and static free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition. Clear readable factory printing. Backing board is secured with modified mount tabs.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Original bottom factory label is missing.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Has been in our reserve inventories for a long time.
