Mandarin Orange 1953 Philco Model 53-562 Vacuum Tube Radio and Box Awesome Condition! Looks and Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Vintage 1953 tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in excellent working and physical condition. Orignial Philco 53 series factory box included.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory molded orange plastic cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no major scratches. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No over spray no touch up. None needed. Original factory tuning clear plastic window is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no major scratches. Tuning numbers are in excellent condition with no fading, flaking or rub off. Has Civil Defense markings on tuning scale. Original factory grill cloth is in excellent condition secure attache no loose edges no rips or stains.
SOUND QUALITY: This radio picks up AM stations real clearly and very loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights up brightly.
KNOBS: The volume and tuning knobs are original matching ivory color plastic with gold metal inserts. Tuning knob works with no slipping, sticky, or stuck spots.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The capacitors been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord with safety polarized plug in excellent condition with no breaks, splits, or exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact in excellent condition. No cracks, breaks or rips.
SPECIAL SERVICES: The Special Services switch in back works but I was not able to receive any broadcast signals.
FACTORY LABELS: Bottom factory labels is intact and readable.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
SHIPPING CARTON: A factory original box for Philco 53-564 is included.
