Dolphin Gray and White 1958 Admiral Model 5D4 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Sounds Great! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio manufactured by Admiral in 1958 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is factory original molded grey blue back color plastic with ivory white front grill plastic. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. Often this model has heat crack on top. Not this one! All original everything!
KNOBS: Factory original matching knobs securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front gold metallic labels have some paint loss.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works. New bulb installed..
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine.All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No back board. Not designed with one. Grey blue back cover is in excellent condition no cracks no chips no major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom label is intact, readable, water stained.
CLOCK: No clock
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
