DESCRIPTION: Highly desired and sought after Arvin model in gloss black Bakelite. This is a rare all black version of the Arvin 450/451 model series. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1950 time frame in excellent+ working and physical condition.

CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original molded Bakelite black. Knobs and pointer are factory black. Grill is factory painted white. Usually these models came with gold knobs and grill. No cracks, chips or major scratches. Factory white metal grill is in excellent condition no rust no dents or dings.

KNOBS: Original matching black knobs are intact, securely attached. Tuning and volume on/off knob is in excellent condition with no pitting, rust or chips. Volume works with smooth even attenuation across entire range. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping no sticky spots. Original factory black metal tuning pointer is in excellent condition securely attached.

SOUND QUALITY: This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes. Loud and clear reception. 

DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights up brightly and illuminates grill ring nicely. Replaced with modern LED bulb for long life and brightness.

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.

CLOCK: No clock

POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent  condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.

BACKING BOARD: The original backing board is in excellent condition with crisp square corners. No missing factory labels.

FACTORY LABELS: Original factory bottom label is intact. 

LOGO: No missing logos. 

PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
