DESCRIPTION: Very few radios make my hairs stand up. This is one of them. If you're looking for an original MCM style radio, this radio is IT! If red and near mint condition is important to you, then say-hello-to-my-little-friend. Lang Radio is a very obscure manufacturer from the 50s. This is a very rare original color to find from the period as well. Very proportional. Not too big as to look bulky. It is just the right size to be cute.
CABINET CONDITION: This radio is NOT PAINTED. It is original FACTORY MOLDED RED color through and through. Urea plastic cabinet is in excellent condition. No cracks, chips, or major scratches anywhere.. Front glass clear clock cover is in excellent condition no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Front tuning gold metal plate is in very good condition but tarnished. Printed numbers not faded or rubbed off.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logos. Lang label on front is in excellent condition.
KNOBS: The original knobs are in excellent condition no cracks no chips. Original factory ivory knobs matching and securely attached. Three clock function knobs are original, matching and excellent condition.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. Red tuning pointer is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent. Clock and alarm set functions work. Sleep function works. Alarm works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Backing board is in very good condition with crisp square corners. Small amount of missing material by the cord.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels. Internal factory label is in excellent condition.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Has been in our reserve inventories for a long time.
