Celeste Blue and White 1959 Silvertone Model 9027 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Super Rare Model!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Silvertone in 1959 time frame in excellent condition. Very rare color combination with push button clock design.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded pink color plastic. No cracks no chips, no major scratches. All original factory molded colors through and through. Rare higher end model from Silvertone. Usually this model is found in pink/white, brown/white, ivory/white. This turquoise/white is a very rare color combination to find.
KNOBS: All original matching clock function push buttons. Usually this model had two front clock function knobs. Factory original translucent gold volume and tuning knobs are in excellent working condition, with no missing gold metal inserts no tarnish or rust.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front gold metal logo plate is not missing. Silvertone printed lettering. Gold metal clock function panel printing is partially faded.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works and lights brightly. Replaced with modern LED bulb for longer life.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Alarm buzzer works. Wake to radio only or radio only no buzzer. Sleep timer works. Snooze button works. Sleep timer works but wa snot designed with any setting indicator. Press once each for 60 mins, then 45 mins, then 30 mins, then 15, mins, then off.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: 6 tube double speaker design. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is missing.
HEAT SHIELD: no heat shield. Heat vents out the front top open slats.
PROVENANCE: This radio was in a house fire and suffered water damage caused by fire fighters. Has been meticulously and laboriously cleaned up and repaired to working condition. It is not cleaned inside. Has very noticeable smoky smell. See story here.
