Gloss Ebony 1948 Westinghouse Model H-188 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Excellent Condition Great Sounding!
DESCRIPTION: Vintage tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Westinghouse in 1948 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. Truly inspired design that includes notably; front grill with flair of Asian antiquity, scroll contour top, front corner fluted columns, and bottom pedestal. Very harmonious beautiful design.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory molded black Bakelite. Not repainted. No over spray. None needed. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or major scratches. The gold Bakelite front grill trim piece is in excellent condition no cracks, no chips, with original factory gold paint not fading, greening or dings. The front tuning clear plastic is original in excellent condition with no cracks and securely mounted. Tuning black back panel and numbers are in excellent condition no paint peeling, dings, rust, or water stains. Front grill fabric is original.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
KNOBS: The original matching black plastic volume and tuning knobs are in excellent condition securtely attached. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping no sticky spots. Tuning gold dome and red translucent pointer are original and securely attached.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works. Replaced with modern LED for long life.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING PANEL: Factory original backing board is in excellent condition. No cracks, rips, fatigued mount points
FACTORY LABELS: No missing factory labels. Back panel factory printing is in readble condition.
PROVENANCE: Was gently used, lovingly displayed, or stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or thick carpet.
