Butterscotch Gold Catalin 1946 DeWald A-501 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by DeWald in the 1946 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. This is one of the most recognizable radios of the art deco period. Highest quality materials were expensive back then. The design shape, referred to among collector as "the harp," is the beautiful combination of curves, angles, and color.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original molded yellow Catalin that has aged to a butterscotch gold color. Bottom is less yellowed. Not repainted. Not touched up or over sprayed. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. There is a hairline crack in the bottom by the mounting screws. Original glass tuning window is in excellent condition, with no cracks, no flaking numbers, securely attached. Replacement grill fabric is in excellent condition with no rips, runs, stains, or separating edges. Original grill fabric is not visibly tucked behind the replacement fabric.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logos. Original DeWald decal is partially faded.
KNOBS: The original tuning and volume knob is in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached. Tuning pointer rotates with ease, no slipping, no sticky or stuck spots.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights works and lights brightly
CLOCK: No clock
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is in excellent condition securely mounted.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord is in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: Bottom factory label is missing.
COLOR: butterscotch gold and knobs.
