Wood Pre War Vintage 1940 Philco Model 40-120 AM Shortwave Vacuum Tube Radio Early Portable Excellent Condition and Great Sounding!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop portable wood vacuum tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1940 time frame still in excellent physical and working condition. No cracks, chips, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! No discoloration no water stains no cigarette or cigar burns. No peeling or replaced veneer. This vintage radio is in the original factory finished wood cabinet. Age checked throughout like an old piece of furniture. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing and securely attached. Original handle. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without external antenna attachment. I was able to receive a few shortwave stations also. This radio is about 80 years old! Dial lights up brightly. The original knobs are brown Bakelite securely attached. All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial plastic is original with no hazing or yellowing and no cracks not warped. Philco "B'dcst" and "Police" front decal is in excellent condition. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is mostly intact. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The power cord is a brand new replacement and safety polarized plug in perfect condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Backing board is not missing. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
