Walnut Brown Bakelite Vintage 1949 Philco Model 49-505 AM Radio Flawless and Sounds Amazing!
DESCRIPTION: Another interesting creation from the mind of Philco. This radio looks like the front of a car. This radio also reminds me of the 1953 Ducretet Thomsen L624, one of my favorites, a singularly attractive radio, but perhaps not considered mainstream pretty. Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1949 timeframe still in excellent plus cosmetic and working condition. This design screams of post war industrial period. The replacement knobs are matching brown plastic. No chips, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! This vintage radio is in the original factory color brown Bakelite still in shiny glossy condition. Hefty and substantial portion of Bakelite used to manufacture this cabinet. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent machine age industrial design! Convenient built in handle. All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial glass is original with very little hazing or yellowing and no cracks. No missing numbering, flaking, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. Dial light works and lights up brightly. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is intact and in very good condition. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The replacement power cord and safety polarized plug is in perfect working condition with no brittleness, cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
