Honey Beige Vintage 1962 General Electric Model C-403A AM Solid State Transistor Clock Radio Ubiquitous Model!
DESCRIPTION: This GE C-403A in Honey Beige was everywhere!. Mostly scorned by radio collectors because of its unassuming generic looks and its common availability. It is probably the most widely sold and still the most easily found vintage clock radio today! But, if you want the old clock radio that was on your mother's night stand, or the one you packed off to college, this is it! Vintage tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by GE in early sixties time frame in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in excellent condition. Original factory molded beige ivory color plastic. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Clear clock cover is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips or major scratches and securely attached. Clock and radio function lettering is not rubbed off at all. Clock backing is in excellent condition with no rust, oxidation pimples or trails, no water stains, no warping.
KNOBS: Original matching knobs are in good condition and securely attached. No broken attach posts. Little clock function knob are all original and securely attached which is rare. These often go missing over the years. Volume knob and gold center are in excellent condition, no chips, no tarnish. The dial knob metal insert has significant is rusted but structurally in excellent working condition with no cracks, chips, or broken attach post.
LOGO: No missing logo.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
SPEAKER: Original 4" speaker
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. No buzzer. Wake to radio only. No snooze button not designed with one.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents. No vacuum tubes. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The double knotted power cord is how it came from the factory.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels. Back factory label is completely faded which is often the case.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is intact and securely mounted. Factory info printing is readable with no water stains and little fading.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
