DESCRIPTION: One of the most recognizable designs from the late fifites! Like its TV cousin, the Philco Predicta line is iconic and getting harder to obtain. This harebrained futuristic vision is far more practical than the Predicta TV. Surprisingly way of ahead of its time. If you didn't know what it was, you might even mistake it for something manufactured recently. The one is more rare all white color combo. Black clock and black radio and white clock and black radio seem more common. Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Philco in 1959-60 time frame in excellent+ working condition. Late fifties design in rare ivory and gold color. The clock movement is quiet as factory designed as it was the day it was new. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in excellent shiny condition with no cracks, chips, or scratches. There is a hairline crack on the top side of the clock and one top front edge by the top buttons. This radio is over 55 years old! The buttons on top are all there and securely attached. Top buttons have been replaced with non-original buttons that have been securely attached. Many surviving Predicta clock radios are missing the top buttons. The buttons are usually not exactly the same height. The clear clock dial face is clear with no cracks. Please see the photo close-up. The clock bezel is clear and transparent not yellowing with no cracks or major scratches. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. The volume knob works fine. Volume knob appears to be warped. As it turns, the volume knob turns on an uneven arc but it does not rub edges. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The clock works and keep accurate time for a mechanical analog design. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. The clock set screw in back is missing the little knurled thumb wheel. A brass sleeve has been tightened on the clock/alarm set post and functions pefectly. The tubes are working fine. The dial light works. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is in good condition with crisp square corners. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage! This thing belongs in a museum!
