Peony Pink 1959 Silvertone Model 9027 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Rare Model!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Silvertone in 1959 time frame rescued from house fire! No burn damage at all. Smells smoky.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded pink color plastic. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not melted due to heat anywhere! White front grill and clock panel is in excellent condition with no melting, chips, cracks, or stains. Front white part has been repainted. Clear readable clock printing is in fair water stained condition with readable clock time markings. Front clock clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, warping or broken attach tabs.
KNOBS: All original matching amber clock function knobs. Factory original amber volume and tuning knobs are in excellent working condition, not melted, with no missing gold metal inserts no tarnish or rust. Smoke and water has ambered the original clear goldish color plastic.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front gold metal logo plate has been polished clean but missing Silvertone printed lettering.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works and lights brightly. Clock dial is glow-in-dark phosphorescent panel. Have not tested. Assume doesn't work.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Alarm buzzer works. Wake to radio only or radio and alarm buzzer. Sleep timer works. Snooze button works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: 6 tube double speaker design. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is partially intact and readable.
HEAT SHIELD: no heat shield. Heat vents out the front top open slats.
PROVENANCE: This radio was in a house fire and suffered water damage caused by fire fighters. Has been meticulously and laboriously cleaned up and repaired to working condition. It is not cleaned inside. Has very noticeable smoky smell. See story here.
