DESCRIPTION: Very proportioned Art Deco design called the 'Hippo' in collector circles. Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1948 time frame still in fair cosmetic condition and excellent+ working condition. Loud as a hippo! Dial lights up brightly. The original knobs are brown plastic securely attached. No cracks, chips, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! This vintage radio is in the original factory color ivory painted brown Bakelite. The factory paint shows a fair amount of paint wear. For sake of originality original paint was left as-is  not repainted, touched up, or over-sprayed. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing and securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. This radio is over 65 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is intact. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The power cord is a brand new replacement in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair.
