DESCRIPTION: The fifties suburban landscape was dotted with department stores that have met the fate of the dinosaurs; S. Klein, Newberry, Korvettes, May & Co., 2 Guys, Woolco, Bamburgers, McCrory, Woolworth's, Sterns, Alexander's, Abraham & Strauss, Gimbels, Bon Marche, Frederick & Nelson, and W.T. Grant. This clock radio was manufactured by W.T. Grant and sold under the Bradford name. There are probably very few left in existence. This one is in excellent plus condition. Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Bradford in 1959. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in very excellent condition with no chips, major scratches, or missing plastic. Originally factory molded in a light grey color. No cracks, chips, or major scratches any where on the cabinet. No repairs, no repaints, none needed. This radio is over 50 years old! The knobs are in excellent plus condition with practically no rub off of the tuning numbers. Wow! The clear dial face has no stress cracks. There are a couple specks or droplets on the inside of the transparent clock cover. Please see the photo close-up. The clock bezel is clear and transparent not yellowing. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on clock dial lettering. No dial light. Not designed with one. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The clock works and keep accurate time for a mechanical analog design. The clock motor is quiet. The alarm works. The clock and alarm set function work. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage! This thing belongs in a museum!
