Stunning Apple Red Bakelite Vintage 1946 Philco Transitone 48-200 AM Radio Popular Design Back In Its Day and Today!
DESCRIPTION: This is one of the more recognizable and popular designs from the 40s. Very resonant design and sounds great! Repainted in flawless mirror glossy apple red. Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1948 timeframe still in excellent cosmetic and working condition. The original knobs are matching ivory plastic securely attached. No chips, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. The backing boards from these Philco 46, 47,48, 49-200s are missing 9 times out of 10 as it is here. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! This radio is over 65 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial plastic cover is original with very little hazing or yellowing and no cracks. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label has seen better days but some of it is still there. Dial light lights up brightly. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The original power cord and plug is in good working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
