Obsidian Charcoal 1957 Arvin Model 2564 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Asteroid Shape Knobs Sounds Stellar!
DESCRIPTION: Rare and very desirable from the late fifties venerable but somewhat quirky Arvin Noblitt-Sparks company which is actually still in business making car parts. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1957 time frame in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes. Gets surprisingly better reception compared with other radios.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet and grill are original factory molded charcoal color plastic. Original factory molded colors. No repaint, no over spray no touch ups. None needed. Matching original eccentric asteroid shaped knobs are intact, securely attached, no broken attach posts. The front grill cloth is original clean, not ripped, not separated along edges, no stains, no funny smells. Front grill silver trim is shiny securely attached no dents or dings, not bent. not rusted. Tuning clear window is not cracked, no chips and securely attached. Tuning window black back panel is not rusted no oxidation trails not greening.
KNOBS: The knobs on this radio are its standout feature! No other manufacture or model uses these eccentric shaped knobs. If you put standard round knobs on this radio, the design fades to relative obscurity. Tuning knob is in excellent condition with no pitting, rust or chips, no missing gold metal insert. Volume works with smooth even attenuation across entire range. The volume knob is in excellent condition.

DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works. New bulb.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact securely attached faded printing.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Intact but yellowed not peeling
