DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Zenith in 1959 in excellent plus working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded harvest gold or honey beige back and white front plastic. Not repainted. No major scratches or missing pieces. Tuning and clock clear covers are original crystal clear no scratches and securely mounted. Tuning and clock back panels are gold foil in excellent condition with no rust, stains, or flaking. Clock cover metal center cap is not missing. Usually this little piece is missing.
KNOBS: Tuning and and volume knobs are original, matching and securely attached. Clock original knobs are clear plastic and securely attached.
LOGO: no missing Zenith logos. Zenith crown center crest is original tarnished with age. No missing or bent crown peaks.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning or clock dial lights. Not designed with this one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keep accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Clock and alarm set time works. Alarm works. Wake to radio and buzzer or wake to radio only. Both work. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one. Harvest gold back cover is original and securely attached. No cracks, chips, or major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Intact but yellowed not peeling.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Was probably used in or near the kitchen for much of its life.
HEAT SHIELD: Original factory installed heat screen is functional and operating as designed.
