Cranberry Red 1946 Addison Model 55 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Looks and Sounds Great! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Addison of in 1946 timeframe in excellent working and physical condition. Look at the cranberry red urea plastic! This is a rare model from a rare quality manufacturer of some of the best pedigree.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Original molded urea plastic is in excellent condition. Urea plastic is a denser high quality plastic more heat resistant that is a precursor to modern day polycarbonate plastics. Original factory molded in cranberry red color. Not repainted. original factory molded color through and through. No chips, warping, or missing material. Has built in handle in back which is very functional. There is a hairline crack on the bottom front edge towards the left side. The clear plastic tuning bezel is in excellent condition with no cracks, no flaking graphics, and securely attached.
KNOBS: The original knobs are in excellent condition and are not painted. They are molded in white plastic. The volume on/off knob is secure.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights up brightly. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! This radio is a good player. Tunes in loudly to stations with no humming or buzzing. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
