Carrara White Ivory Plaskon Vintage 1939 Fada Model L-96V AM Radio Art Deco Dream!
DESCRIPTION: Stately design from the illustrious Fada Company. This radio looks like it would belong in a presidential library or some famous person's historic landmark home. Factory molded plaskon plastic which is a hard to find brittler predecessor of modern plastic with a relatively high melting temperature. This radio construction and design is heads and tails above the competition. Like a Rolls Royce or Bentley. The plaskon is over 1/4" thick! Normal temperature variations through its life have caused micro cracks throughout which gives this radio an appearance like it was sculpted from marble. Not unusual for plaskon. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! This radio is 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial plastic is original with very little hazing or yellowing and no cracks. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The fabric grill is a new replacement. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The new replacement power cord and plug is in excellent working condition. No exposed wiring. Original backing board still in good condition with cracks. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
