DESCRIPTION: Rare and very desirable from the mid-late fifties from Truetone Western Auto Supply. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Truetone in 1960 time frame in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Black cabinet and white grill are original factory molded colors through and through. No cracks or major scratches. There is a small chip on the lower right front grill piece. No repaint, no over spray no touch ups. None needed. No other cracks, chips or major scratches.
KNOBS: Matching original knobs are intact, securely attached. Tuning knob is in very good condition with front edge chip and missing metal center insert. Volume knob is in excellent condition. Volume works with smooth even attenuation across entire range. The tuning dial works fine.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both intermediate frequency transformers have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Back cover is in excellent condition with not melted, broken heat vanes.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels.
