DESCRIPTION: Artisan crafted wood tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1948 time fame in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Solid wood construction. Big hefty proportions. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces in wood construction. No chipped or missing veneer along edges and corners. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. Clear tuning window is not cracked, no chips, not yellowed with age, securely attached. Original grill painted brown metal mesh is not dented or dinged. Not rusted.
SOUND QUALITY: So loud and clear sounding! If you want something that will rattle the windows, this is the one! Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need for external antenna attachment. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
LOGO: No missing logos. No chipped letters in Arvin logo.
KNOBS: All original factory matching knobs in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached. All knob lettering is still readable. The tuning back panel is badly warped. Looks like plastic formulation at the factory resulted in shrinkage over time. Warpage does not completely obstruct movement of tuning dial but does cause it to get temporarily stuck over the warped spots.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
CLOCK: No clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is in excellent condition. Beautiful ornate cutouts.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
