Anthracite 1938 Admiral Model 389-5S Vacuum Tube AM Radio Relic and Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Factory original pitch colored Bakelite cabinet manufactured by Admiral in 1938 during Pre-WW2 era in excellent physical and working condition. Dial light lights up brightly. The knobs are matching black Bakelite securely attached. No chips, splits, abrasions, or major scratches! There is a repaired hairline crack on the top along the edge obscured along the contour. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Original molded pitch black semi-gloss Bakelite. Not repainted not touched up not over sprayed. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external antenna attachment which is included. Excellent art deco design! This radio is over 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial cover is original no hazing or no yellowing with hairline cracks. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The cloth covered power cord and plug is in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Original backing board is not missing securely attached. Bottom factory printed information is intact and readable. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
