DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio from Aircastle made in 1942 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external antenna attachment for AM that is attached and included.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory wood cabinet in original wood color. No cracks, or major scratches. There is a sliver of veneer chipped off on right bottom side towards the back.Not repainted, no over spray, no touch up. Original grill fabric is in excellent condition. No major stains or rips. Factory clear glass cover is in excellent condition with no cracks or flaking numbers. Very attractive grill wood design trim is in excellent condition. Tuning window escutcheon surround trim is in excellent condition with no rust. Tuning back panel is in excellent condition with no rust, flaking or faded numbers.
KNOBS: Volume, tone, and tuning knobs are original, matching, in excellent condition and securely attached.
LOGO: no missing logos
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light illuminates when radio is turned on.
CLOCK: no clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and vintage plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is missing.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Was gently used, lovingly displayed, or stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or thick carpet.
