Artisan Crafted Wood 1938 Philco Model 39-15 AM Radio Beautiful Wood Cabinet Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: This radio was made back in the time before automated factories, computers, and robots. This radio was constructed lovingly by hand more or less using simple machines and tools in small factories. Very proportioned Art Deco design that outshines on looks and sound! Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1938 time frame in excellent physical and working condition. Loud as a big band orchestra! Dial light lights up brightly. No cracks or peeling veneer anywhere on the cabinet! There is a small veneer chip on the top right curved front part. The original knobs are brown Bakelite securely attached. This vintage radio is in the original factory finished wood cabinet with even finish checking due to age throughout, like an old guitar!. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing and securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external antenna which is attached. This radio is over 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No flaking which is common. Small section in the center where dial pointer has rubbed off some of the dial display backing. Clear dial glass is original with no hazing or yellowing and no cracks. Philco manufacturer logo is 100% intact. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is intact. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The power cord is a brand new replacement with safety polarized plug in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Backing board is missing. 9 out of 10 of these old Philcos have missing backing boards. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
