Wood Vintage 1939 Airline 84WG-612A AM Vacuum Tube AM Shortwave Radio Excellent+ Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Montgomery Ward Airline in the 1939 time frame still in excellent+ working and physical condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. Picks up shortwave stations also. Excellent classic design with inlaid decorative bands and book matched veneers. Handcrafted wood cabinet is in excellent survivor level condition with no cracks, peeling veneer, separated joints. Couple thin patches up top and some stains. Front original grill fabric is in excellent condition no tears, rips, splits or fraying or edge separation. The grill fabric is solidly attached. This radio is almost 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The dial is transparent clear glass in excellent condition with no yellowing no cracks. No other missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. The band SW/AM, tone Hi/Lo, on/off lettering is impeccable. No smudges or yellowing. Original back panel is not missing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. Tuning preset buttons work and can be reset to other stations.The unit powers on and off with a definite click. Dial bulb light up brightly. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 70+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The replacement power cord and polarized plug are new and excellent working condition. No exposed wiring. No pervasive hum. No pervasive static. Stations tune in clearly and distinctly. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
