Cedarwood Mid Century 1952 Automatic Radio Mfg Model CL-164 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Sounds Fabulous! Looks Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM vintage radio manufactured by Automatic Radio Mfg in 1952 in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Original artisan crafted wood cabinet with cedar color factory finish and stain. No touch up no over spray. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Finish has age checking and worn through spots throughout like an antique instrument. This radio is over 70 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering on the clock or radio tuning bezel. The "Broadway" font definitely makes this period looking! The brass clock and tuning internal square surround is in excellent condition with no rust, no oxidation, no greening or water stains. The clear bezels are securely attached with no major cracks or scratches or inclusions.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
KNOBS: The original factory matching knobs are in excellent condition. The little brown clock knobs are all original and matching and securely attached. Usually some or all of these are missing or not matching.
LOGO: The Automatic decal is in excellent condition.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. This vintage radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: The original backing board is in excellent condition.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm set function works. Alarm works. Clock set works. Sleep timer works. Appliance timer on back works.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and polarized plug are excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
