Watermelon Pink 1957 Olympic Model 409 AM ALARM Clock Radio Rare Manufacturer Excellent Condition and Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Olympic in 1957 excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Rare and desirable model from Olympic in late fifties time frame in bright original molded watermelon pink color plastic. Yummy. Manufactured by Olympic Radio Company in Long Island City, New York! Unique offset clock design combined with its unseen bright watermelon pink hue makes this piece a one-of-kind design! The plastic cabinet is in excellent condition with no chips or majpor scratches. No repaints no repairs needed. All original factory molded color through and through! There is small hairline crack and heat aberration on top right center above where the amplifier tube is located within. An internal heat shield has been fabricated and mounted underside to minimize futher heat damage. No other cracks, chips, melted or missing plastic. No missing pieces. The original clear plastic clock cover is clear and transparent not yellowing and no cracks.
KNOBS: Original volume and tuning knob. The tuning knob is in excellent condition with no cracks and intact mounting post. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. No missing gold metal knob inserts. Volume knob is in excellent condition. The little clock knobs are molded gold plastic, original and securely attached.
CLOCK: The clock is quiet and keeps accurate time. No clock motor humming, buzzing, or cranking sound. No cracks, hazing, stains, or yellowing on dial face. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on clock dial lettering. No chips, tarnish, or bubbling on the clock fascia plate is evenly tarnished. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The vacuum tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
POWER CORD: The original power cord is in excellent functional condition with no cracks, breaks, or exposed wiring. Very stiff from age.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is in good condition with crisp square corners.
