Umber Brown Bakelite 1952 Sylvania Model 540M Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Beautiful and Works Like a Charm!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Sylvania in 1952 time frame in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded brown Bakelite. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. None needed. The front ivory molded plastic bezel is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips or major scratches and securely attached.
KNOBS: Original matching ivory color volume and tuning knobs in excellent condition and securely attached. Original two ivory color plastic clock function knobs are excellent condition, matching, securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos. Painted fill in Sylvania logo is in excellent condition. The indented letters or numbers have no missing paint.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio and radio with buzzer. Sleep timer works. Front blue clock face surround gold metal trim are in excellent condition. Real glass clock cover has no cracks no chips no yellowing. Clock arms and numbering is in excellent readable condition.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board. Factory printing is slightly faded, clear, readable, no water stains and securely attached.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
