Pitch Black Bakelite 1947 Majestic Model 5BO1A Vacuum Tube AM Radio Sounds Great Excellent Condition! Rare Pancake Design!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM vacuum tube radio alarm manufactured by Majestic in 1946-47 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. Rare flat streamline design embodies art deco and futurist aesthetic like no other radios from this era.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory black Bakelite cabinet. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Not repainted, no touch up not over sprayed. Tuning dial window is in excellent condition no chips, flaking numbers and securely attached. There is a slight hairline crack that does not continue across.
KNOBS: Original pair matching factory black plastic tuning knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. Tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. Volume on/off switch is original and securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos. Claims proudly across tuning dial; "Mighty Monarch of the Air." Sure.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly. Replaced with modern LED for long life and brightness.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing baord. None designed.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels.
