Wagon Red 1947 Arvin Model 444 AM Vacuum Tube Metal Cabinet Radio Little Dynamo!
DESCRIPTION: Cute little postwar tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1947 in excellent physical and excellent working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations around the dial with attached antenna attachment. This is a 4 tube one Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFT) circuit design, so it was designed to be compact and receive only strong local stations. Far away stations will not receive as loudly.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is factory metal cabinet. Has been repainted radio flyer red by a previous owner. Has small paint dings throughout. No dents or dings on the metal cabinet. All original everything! Stamped press tuning fascia plate is in excellent condition not dented or dinged nice patina securely attached.
KNOBS: Factory original matching white plastic knobs securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original white cord and red plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is in excellent condition
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom label is about 50% missing.
PROVENANCE: Spent most of its life in rural midwest. Was part of collection of avid collector. See gallery article here.
CLOCK: No clock.
