Tiger Stripe Maple Bakelite 1947 RCA Victor Model 75X16 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Sounds Great! Looks Spectacular!
DESCRIPTION: Rare RCA 1946 table top Bakelite AM vacuum tube radio in factory finish tiger stripe maple. This is not a wood radio. This is a factory painted wood effect. Very realistic. Usually found in standard brown or black Bakelite. The other painted wood color red oak is more common than this blonde maple color.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original Bakelite with factory painted tiger stripe maple. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Beautifully high quality highly figured maple appearance. Gold metal tuning window surround is shiny, no rust, securely attached. Factory gold painted grill slats are in excellent condition. Back grill fabric is original, securely attached, no separated seams or edges, no rips, no stains, no discoloration. Couple paint dings throughout but no major scratches. No painting touch ups, repairs or repaints performed or needed. Tuning clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips. Slight hazing and yellowing due to age. Numbers are all clearly etched and back illuminated when turned on. Gold metal tuning cone is shiny and securely attached.
KNOBS: Original matching brown knobs securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos or rubbed off decals.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one. Little fabric mesh behind back vent slats is not missing.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Readable.
