Crimson Red 1954 General Electric Model 566 Retro AM Clock Radio Porthole Design Sounds Great Near Mint Condition!

DESCRIPTION: This near mint vintage radio is over 60 years old! Amazing antique tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in 1954 time frame. Porthole nautical and aviation instrumentation looking design. This vintage radio is in excellent working condition. Model number 566. Cabinet is original factory molded red color with attractive clock and tuning faces. The front fascia is in excellent condition with no rust, tarnish and very little oxidation. Excellent physical condition! No chips, repairs or missing material on this antique radio. Tiny hairline crack just beginning on the top rear edge. No repaint no touch no overspray. None needed. All original everything. All knobs are original and securely attached. Tricky thing about this radio, the volume and tuning knobs are stacked. When you tune the radio the volume knobs need adjusting due to slight friction between the knobs. The on, off, sleep little knobs are all present and working fine. Amazing. These little knobs almost always go missing after all these years. The tuning dial works fine. The new replacement power cable is in perfect working condition. Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is quiet no humming buzzing or grinding sounds. Alarm works. Clock and alarm set function work. Sleep function works. Backing board is securely attached with crisp square corners. Original bottom factory label is not all there and is slightly yellowed. No dial light but one can be added for an extra charge. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
