Marble Brown Bakelite 1948 General Electric Model 114 Vacuum Tube Radio Terrific Sounding!
DESCRIPTION: This is one loud and clear sounding beast. Larger than most designs. Usually, these larger plastic GE's are cracked but not this one. Vintage 1948 tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by GE in excellent+ working and physical condition. No cracks, large chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded brown color Bakelite through and through. Not repainted. No over spray no touch up. None needed. Unusually, the molding process at the factory resulted in some veining or marbling at the top. Looks like slightly shinier veins of Bakelite. Not scuff marks. Not scratches. Even at the surface just slightly different sheen. This radio picks up AM stations real clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Dual dial lights one on each side works and lights brightly. The knobs of this vintage tube radio are original. The capacitors been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Original power cord is in very good condition with no cracks, or splits. Original backing board is intact in excellent condition. Bottom factory labels are not missing. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
