FIRE ENGINE RED Rare Art Deco Retro 1947-49 TELE-TONE 109 AM Tube Radio Works! Wow!

DIMENSIONS: Approximately 11" x 6" x 7" (l x w x h)

COLOR: Bright FIRE ENGINE Red

DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Tele-Tone Model 109 in the 1946-50 timeframe still in excellent+ working condition. Not sure of the model number or exact year of manufacture. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! Front ivory bakelite grill is original pencil hole grill design looks high tech and automotive. Bakelite cabinet is repainted in mirror-like glossy bright FIRE ENGINE Red. There's not a single crack anywhere in the cabinet. The knobs are original matching brown bakelite securely attached. The hole-y grill is in great condition. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The transparent clear plastic dial is in pristine condition. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. I looked hard to find a single flaw or blemish on this radio and there are none! The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Backing board is missing. Nice wound antenna is mounted on the side of the chassis. I've never seen this approach but it works nicely! All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The replacement power cord and plug are brand new replacement with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, Harry S Truman was president! This thing belongs in a museum!
