Artisan Handcrafted Wood Philco 1941 Model 41-221 Vacuum Tube AM Shortwave Radio Excellent Condition Sounds Great
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in the 1940-41 time frame.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original hand crafted curved wood. The finish is factory original. Not refinished no touch up no over spray. Has scuffs and age checking throughout due to age. Clear original plastic tuning window is cracked, no chips, and yellowed with age. Original factory swirly plastic grill surround is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or warping
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM and shortwave stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna.
LOGO: No missing logos. Original factory Philco front decal is in excellent condition.
KNOBS: Original matching knobs
LETTERING: Not missing, smudged, or faded dial numbering. Tuning dial graphics is not flaking which is common among some Philcos. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping or stuck or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Replacement new dial bulb works and lights up brightly.
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: No factory backing board.
POWER CORD: The brand new power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Was probably used in or near the kitchen for much of its life.
