DESCRIPTION: Rare tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Sylvania in 1960 in excellent working and physical condition. Sylvania really tries to up the ante on this model with over-the-top retro space age design elements. And, in keeping with Sylvania's heritage in light and illumination, this design features a rare clock and tuning lighted displays. Rare among any manufacturer during this era.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in excellent condition with no chips, major scratches, or missing material. The back cover of the cabinet is original factory molded pastel blue color with no chips, no major scratches. There is one repaired hairline crack. Factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No touch up no over spray. The cabinet front grill part is originally molded factory white color. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. None needed. The top light display cover is clear transparent plastic with no cracks, chips, or major scratches and securely attached.
FACTORY LABELS: Partially missing label on bottom.
LOGOS: Sylvania logo is not missing.
KNOBS: The volume and tuning knobs are original, matching, in excellent condition, no cracks, and securely attached. No missing clock push button knobs.. The tuning dial red pointing works fine and smooth no slipping.
CLOCK: The clock face is in excellent condition. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on clock dial lettering. No water stains. No cracks, warping, major scratches on the clear clock cover. The clock works and keep accurate time no humming no buzzing no ticking or grinding noises. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CABLE: The factory original color matching power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
HEAT SHIELD: Heat shield has been fabricated and mounted underneath internally to minimize heat damage.
PROVENANCE: Was gently used, lovingly displayed, or stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or thick carpet.
