Burgundy Marble Swirly 1955 General Electric Model 475 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Real Charmer! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Manufactured by GE General Electric of then tony city of Bridgeport CT! Tabletop tube AM vintage radio manufactured by GE in mid-1950's in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Sound quality is better than other radios of this period because speaker is 6" as opposed the usual 4".
CABINET: Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Two cigarette burns on the fron top edge. Original factory molded dark brown burgundy swirly marbled color plastic. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. Not touched up. Not over sprayed. No chips or major scratches. Front gold factory painted grill is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or paint dings. Clear tuning window is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no major scratches. Not missing the GE trident logo emblem which often seems to go missing.
KNOBS: Original color matching volume and tuning knobs are in excellent condition, no cracks, no broken attach posts. Gold metal inserts p[resent and in excellent condition. Pull volume knob outward to turn on and off.
LOGOS: No missing logos. Original General Electric logo above the tuning window is rubbed off. Original Musaphonic label is not missing either. Usually this goes missing.
CLOCK: None
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Bottom factory labels are not missing. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. This radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time!
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly and follows the arc of the tuning dial movement. Neato.
POWER CABLE: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks or brittleness. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Crisp, clear backing board with legible original documentation and swirly purple color antenna cover is excellent condition and securely attached.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
