Blue Ice Metallic Vintage Bakelite 1948 Silvertone 8005 AM Tube Radio Early Metallic Finish Rare and Expensive Color Back Then!

DESCRIPTION: Rare design from the 1940s from once prominent Sears company catalog number 8005. This vintage radio manufactured by Silvertone in 1948 time frame is in excellent working and good physical condition. Cabinet is factory painted bakelite in rare blue silver metallic paint. Metallic paints are prevalent today but back in the late 40s, it was probably considered a miracle of modern science. No repaints, no over spray no touch up. None needed. The blue/silver paint is 100% intact with minimal rub-off and very, very little tarnishing or oxidation. That's very hard to find. Some fleabites and minor dings. Front grill is metal. No dents or dings. Volume and tuning knobs are original and securely attached. This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes. This radio is over 70 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. No missing logos or labels. The bottom label is intact. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping. Volume works. There is a crack on the back of the radio and front right side. No other cracks, chips, or major scratches. Heat from dial light bulb has caused the clear plastic to fog in the top middle. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. Bottom labels are mostly intact yellowed missing corner. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
