Tweed Gray 1958 Arvin Model 8571-3 AM Portable Vacuum Tube Radio Excellent Condition Loud Clear Sounding!
DESCRIPTION: Portable vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1958 in excellent working and physical condition. Has been upgraded to operate on standard household voltage. No need for batteries. No need for original factory two prong obscure power cord.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. This vintage portable radio plays great with or without an external antenna attachment. This radio almost 65 years old! Loud and clear sounding!
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory gray tweed textured cabinet in excellent condition with no dents, dings, cracks, chips, no major scratches. Not sure whether this is actually fabric covered or textured other kind of covering. It feels like fabric, but could be textured painted to look like fabric. Solid steel construction sheet metal cabinet. Not repainted, not over sprayed or touched up. Original top black plastic handle is in excellent condition no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Cabinet back panel is secure stays shut.
KNOBS: All original factory matching black plastic knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. Power on/off volume knob works. Volume works. The tuning dial works, no slipping no sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light.
BATTERIES: No batteries needed. This radio was originally designed to operate on batteries or standard AC household outlet with non-standard original factory power cord. Not sure whether original style batteries are still available. Has been upgraded to operate on AC household power. Power cable stores inside battery compartment.
AC POWER SUPPLY: Included. Powers off standard US household outlet 120VAC 117Hz. Just plug in your outlet. Use of battery in addition to AC power is not recommended.
POWER CORD: New power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, electrical tape repair, or exposed wiring.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance in the future. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.

PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
