DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by General Electric in 1959 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. Very popular late fifties step design in original factory molded pink color.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded aquamarine turquoise plastic. Factory molded color through and through. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. There is a hairline crack across the top that has been repaired. Clock black color cover has no cracks or micro-inclusions. There are some swipe scratches radially from right clock function knob on the clock face. Color matching back cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or major scratches. No melted heat vanes. Front clock function printing is rubbed off and faded.
KNOBS: Original matching factory original volume and tuning knobs are securely attached. Original two matching factory clock knobs with flaps broken off. No stripped internal post slots. Gold metal inserts not tarnished.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front black factory painted raised General Electric logo is in excellent condition no rub off.
DIAL LIGHT: Original tuning light works and lights brightly! Light follows the tuning pointer across the dial. Neat! Replaced with modern LED bulb for brightness and long life.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer works. Sleep timer works. Snooze button works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original gray power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits.
BACKING BOARD: Color matching back cover is original. No cracks, no chips, no major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory labels are not missing.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
