Turquoise and White 1960 General Electric Model C-4518 AM Vintage Radio Excellent Condition Sounds Terrific!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by General Electric in 1960 in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory glossy molded in turquoise plastic with white plastic trim and front grill. No major scratches or missing pieces. This model often has heat cracks on top and chips on the front protruding corners. Not this one! The front clock and tuning clear cover is also clear. No micro inclusion cracks on the face of the clock. No hazing, and face is securely attached. All front top clock function lettering is clear lettering. 1 small chip on top right corner. Non-functioning phono jack was installed by a previous owner on back left side of cabinet.
KNOBS: Original knobs are clear plastic and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. Gold metal center caps are in good condition and present. One gold cap is oxidized and shows rust, one is shiny. All push buttons work as designed and do not pop off. All push buttons return to correct height between operations. Snooze paddle works for the buzzer and advances sleep timer setting to 10, 30, 45 mins and off as designed.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front black clock face is clean, no rust pitting, warping or water staining.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works as designed. No clock light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio and radio with buzzer. Sleep timer works. Black clock face is in excellent plus condition with no dents or dings, no rust, no rub off, no oxidation trails.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both intermediate frequency transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free reception in the future. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Original color matching turquoise power cord and plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one. Back turquoise cover is in excellent condition. No melted, cracked or chipped heat vents in back.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label about 50% intact. Some of it is intact and readable. Yellowed with age no water stains.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
