The Future is Here and Almost Gone! - 1961 Sahara Tan Philco Predicta Model J775-125 Tube AM Clock Radio Awesome!

DESCRIPTION: This was the last year of the Predicta.  Fewer numbers of Predictas were made in 1961 compared to previous years. Very few are still around. I Predict-a You Will Like-a! This Predicta is one of the most iconic designs of the late fifties. It embodies American (and international) futuristic ambitions of the early space age. It is becoming extremely sought after by collectors and vintage enthusiasts. This Predicta will not be attainable for long! Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Philco in 1958 time frame in excellent+ working condition. Late fifties early sixties design in rare sahara tan color clock and bottom.

SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.

CABINET CONDITION (clock): Cabinet is molded in sand beige tan color plastic in very good condition. Not repainted, no touch up, and no over spray. Factory molded colors through and through. The buttons on top are all there, original, matching, and securely attached and level. These buttons often go missing because they pop off. The clock gold metal trim surround is in excellent condition with no pitting no rust slight fading and securely attached. The clock dial cover is clear with no cracks, no chips or major scratches. Clock face gold metal back is in excellent condition with no oxidation trails, fading, rub off, or rust. The bottom of the clock assembly has cracks which have been repaired and reinforced from within. There is the usual small chip on the front edge of the top clock push button section.

CABINET CONDITION (base): The bottom section is mirror glossy in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches.  There is a small rounded chip front top base edge. The metal tuning and volume section plate is in excellent condition with major scratches, no dents or dings, no oxidation or rust.

KNOBS AND BUTTONS: The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. The volume knob works fine. The tuning knob rotates on a level plateau which is not often the case with these Predictas. All original 4 clock buttons on top! Nice! Matching, original. This model features sleep timer intervals 15, 30, 45, 60 mins and off, tso no need to guess how much time on timer as with other Predicta clocks. Thank you.

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! All the buttons on top work but the radio takes a longer time (forever)! to turn off (and on) which is common among these Predictas. The tubes are working fine. The dial light works. No clock light not designed with one. But one can be added for an extra charge. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.

CLOCK: The clock works and keep accurate time. The clock movement is quiet as factory designed as it was the day it was new. No humming no buzzing no ticking noises. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. The clock set screw in back is not missing the little knurled thumb wheel which is common.

BACKING BOARD: Bottom backing board is in excellent condition with crisp square corners.

POWER CORD: The power cord and plug are very good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.

FACTORY LABELS: Original factory labels are intact and readable.

PROVENANCE: Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. This radio was recently acquired from an avid collector located in Seattle WA.

COLOR: sand beige tan color. Very rare.
