Pre-War Vintage Wood 1939 Philco Model 40-150 AM Short Wave and Police Radio with Stunning Hardwood Cabinet
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop model vintage wood tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1939-40 time frame still in excellent physical and working condition. When this radio was new, it probably cost a hefty sum. The original knobs are black Bakelite and are securely attached. Original finish. No chips, splits, abrasions, or missing veneer anywhere on the cabinet! This vintage radio is original factory wood construction. They don't make them like this anymore! Original factory grill cloth is in excellent condition given the age of this antique. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM and shortwave stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. This radio features police, aviation, and marine bands that work also. This radio is 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear no flaking. Clear tuning dial window glass is original with no no cracks. Station preset buttons work. Dial lights up brightly. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. Volume and tone knobs work with smooth even attenuation. No missing labels. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug is in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Original backing board is in excellent. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
