Moderna Ivory 1950 Truetone Model D2018 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Mid Century Boomarang Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube radio manufactured by Truetone in the 1950 time frame. Notable boomerang shape grill section is a rarity among radio designs of any time period aand highly desired among collectors.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded Bakelite cabinet painted at the factory in ivory color. Not refinished no touch no over spray. No cracks. No chips or major scratches. Small paint dings throughout due to age and normal wear and tear not abuse. Grill cloth is brand new replacement. Original grill cloth is intact behind the new replacement. Tuning clear plastic windo is in excellent condition with npo cracks, chips, or major scratches. All tuning numbers clear and readable, not flaking, not rubbed off.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial.
KNOBS: All original factory matching knobs; volume, tuning, no attach post cracks, and securely attached.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
CLOCK: No clock
LOGOS: No missing logos. Truetone logo script is very nice looking in excellent condition.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: Replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is in fair condition with repaired cracked attachment tabs on the bottom. Reinforced and strengthen from behind with fiber board to minimize possible flex and fatiigue in the future.
FACTORY LABELS: No missing bottom factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Was gently used, lovingly displayed, or stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or thick carpet. Was acquired recently from a long time avid collector from Seattle.
