Mariner Green 1955 General Electric Model 566 AM Vacuum Tube Clock Radio Porthole Design Sounds and Looks Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by General Electric in 1955 in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory shiny molded green blend color plastic. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Usually this model has hairline crack on top but not this one. Repaired hairline crack on bottom, does not show on the front. The front clock and tuning bezels are clear, transparent with no cracks, chips or hazing. The gold painted surrounds are not greening has some blotchy or oxidized and tarnished areas, which is common.
KNOBS: Original clock knobs are matching, white color, and securely attached. The front tuning and volume knob are stacked configuration in this design. Has tendency to lower and raise volume when tuning because one shaft drags the other. Clock function knobs may be replacements but are period and model correct, matching, and securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logo. General Electric brand name is clear and readable across tuning window.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light not designed with one but one can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Alarm buzzer works. Wake to radio or radio and buzzer. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intake securely attached legible printing.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing labels. Bottom label is mostly intact and readable
